Unforgettable Coron (Mt. Tapyas and Maquinit HotSpring)

Based on what I heard, Coron have stunning views, which you have to experience in person to really see its beauty. So, I put Coron on the list of my dream destination.

September 30 - October 3, 2012, we went to Coron. (yey! at long last!) I got my ticket on a seat sale of Cebu Pacific last February of the same year for only 800php.

NAIA Terminal 3
Even on the plane, you can already see the beauty of Busuanga Island.

Six of us landed in Coron around 1:15pm. We have to wait for the other three who aboard AirPhilExpress. While waiting, we had our lunch at one of the Carinderia beside the airport.

Arrival @ Busuaga Airport

Where we had our lunch

We already arranged our airport transfer with Coron Reef Pension House where we would also be staying for two nights. Fare is 150 per person. When we were already complete, we rode the SUV and headed to our accommodation. It was just a 30 minutes ride from the airport to Coron town. We checked-in in our rooms (triple sharing - 700php per night) and rested a bit. Originally, we booked 3 rooms for 9 pax, but change our minds to 2 rooms when we saw that the room is spacious enough to fit 4-5 person on each room.

Then our adventure begun at 4:30pm. We hired the same SUV to bring us to Mt. Tapyas and Maquinit Hot Spring for only 1200php.

View from Coron Reef Pension
To reach the big cross on the summit of Mt. Tapyas (entrance is free), we need to ascend 730 plus step. I was really tired when I reach the summit. My knees were shaking and my heart was pumping like crazy. But the view is worth the effort. You can see the whole Coron Town and the islands near by.

Next stop: Maquinit Hot Spring (Entrance Fee: 150php)

Mt. Tapyas and Maquinit Hot Spring are partners. After you get your muscles tired of going up and down on the mountain, you will have it at ease at the hot water of the spring.

All our energy was drained off when we left the hot spring. Our body was very relax and at the same time hungry. We drove back to town and had our dinner at Lolo Nonoy's Food Station.

Interior and menu
Sinigang na Hipon ( 250php good for 3 pax)

Pork Sisig ( 150php good for 3 pax)
The food taste good but they need to improve there service. We were the only guest in the resto and it took them lots of time to prepare our orders. Maybe I was just used in the Fast Food restaurants here in Manila.

full and sleepy
And that was how we spent our first day in Coron. :D
